Standard — IRI thresholds unchanged. Switch to match your vehicle for accurate rough-road warnings.
📐 Phone Placement Guide
For accurate road quality readings (IRI, potholes, speed breakers), place your phone correctly:
1
Use a dashboard or windscreen mount
Fix phone firmly — do not hold it by hand or place loose on the seat. Any movement creates false readings.
2
Screen facing up, flat & level
The phone should lie flat (or close to flat) with the screen facing the sky. This is the default for every trip. Tilted or vertical mounts sharply reduce road-quality accuracy — see the note below if you also use Drowsiness Camera.
3
Align with direction of travel
The top of the phone should point toward the front of the vehicle.
4
Mount on the vehicle, not the body
Dashboard or windscreen — not your leg, bag or cup holder. The phone must move with the car.
5
Test before you drive
Tap Test in the Phone mount quality box (Journey Planner screen) and watch the G-force reading. It should stay near 0 G when stationary.
📷 Using Drowsiness Camera on a long drive?
That feature needs the opposite mount: upright, with the screen facing you, so the front camera can see your eyes. Flat (above) stays the default for regular trips. Only switch to upright for long-haul drives where you want camera-based drowsiness monitoring — and expect road quality / IRI / pothole readings to be unreliable for the rest of that trip while mounted that way.

Drowsiness Camera Monitor
Not enabled
Turn on Camera Drowsiness Detection in Settings, then start your journey. Works alongside the Fatigue timer for long drives.
👁 Watches for prolonged eye closure and drooping posture while you drive. All video is processed on your phone, in this app, and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. Works best with the phone mounted so the front camera faces you, in reasonable light. If detection seems off — too many alerts, or none at all — tap Recalibrate with the phone in its actual driving mount position.
Forward Collision Camera
Not enabled
Turn on Forward Collision Alerts in Settings, then start your journey. Uses the rear camera, mounted facing the road.
🚗 Watches the vehicle ahead for a fast-closing gap and for its brake lights coming on. All video is processed on your phone and is never recorded or sent anywhere unless the Video Event Recorder below saves a clip. Distance and closing-speed are estimated from the camera image only — not a certified measurement — so treat alerts as an advisory nudge, not a guarantee. Works best in daylight with a stable, forward-facing mount; accuracy drops at night, in heavy rain, or dense stop-and-go traffic.
🎥 Video Event Recorder
Not enabled.
Keeps a rolling "Last 60 Seconds" buffer and saves a clip (~50 seconds before to 10 seconds after) automatically on a hard brake, a possible crash or fall, or a forward collision warning — or tap the button above any time. Clips stay on your phone only; nothing uploads automatically.
V2P Collision Warning BETA
Not enabled
Warns you when a pedestrian or cyclist's phone is on a converging path, using GPS/cellular for long range and switching to a short-range link for precise, low-latency timing once they're close — same layered approach used in dedicated V2P systems.
📡 Uses your phone's own GPS as the vehicle side of the link. Detecting a real nearby pedestrian requires their phone (or a roadside unit) to be broadcasting a compatible V2P signal too — most phones today aren't, so until that's widespread this card also doubles as a live math demo: tap "Test with demo VRU" any time (parked or driving) to see the collision-timing logic run against a simulated pedestrian on a converging path.
Signal & Crosswalk Alerts BETA
Not enabled
Context-aware alerts from nearby traffic signals — Signal Phase & Timing (SPaT) via V2I — and from Smart Crosswalk units: an early "you won't make this green, ease off" advisory (GLOSA-style), a "red ahead, prepare to stop" warning, and a "pedestrians crossing ahead" alert when a crosswalk's own walk signal is active, independent of whether any pedestrian is carrying a phone.
🚦 A phone alone can't see a traffic light's phase — that has to come from real infrastructure: either the city's traffic-signal system publishing a live SPaT feed, or a Smart Crosswalk unit at that specific intersection broadcasting locally. Neither is available at most intersections yet, so until one is wired in nearby this card also doubles as a live math demo: tap "Test with demo signal" any time to see the timing logic run against a simulated approaching light and crosswalk.
Battery Saver
Reduces phone heat and battery drain by cutting back on non-essential processing and screen updates — GPS position, road-roughness sensing, hazard detection, and crash detection all stay at full precision, unchanged. Only convenience features (vehicle-type auto-detect) and how often secondary display elements refresh are affected.

🚘 Forward Collision + Brake Light Alerts
Watches the vehicle ahead using your rear camera and warns you if the gap closes fast or its brake lights come on. Advisory only — video never leaves your phone.
🔬 Enhanced Distance Check (Experimental)
Adds an AI depth check that double-confirms Forward Collision alerts. One-time ~50MB download; Android/Chrome only. All processing stays on your phone.

Brightens the Forward Collision preview automatically in the dark so you can actually see it. No download, works on every phone. Doesn't change what alerts are based on.
🔎 Speed Limit Sign Reading (Experimental)
Tries to read roadside speed-limit signs with your rear camera, only used when no road data is found for that road. Rough first version — can misread. All processing stays on your phone.
🚧 Construction Zone Detection (Experimental)
Watches your rear camera for cones/barriers (safety-orange color detection) and warns to slow down. Can be fooled by other orange objects. All processing stays on your phone.
